Are my children going to be alright?

As adults and parents it can be very hard to look at the world and not worry about our children. What will their future be like and how will they cope in a world in which they may never even be able to afford their own home? What work will they do and will they have a safe, clean environment to live in?

These are huge questions and of major concern to many of us. We all want our children to be safe, happy, healthy and successful and yet sometimes it feels that it’s hard enough just to stay afloat. Maybe you are a single parent or maybe you lost your home during the financial crisis of 2008 and are only just getting your life flowing again. Life is so busy for most of us and yet we know that we should be spending precious, quality time with our kids.

Most children are born with an incredible resilience, openness and natural wisdom. They know and feel what’s going on even if you can’t explain it to them in words. Most kids are much more intuitive and aware than we give them credit for and we often project our own doubts and fears onto them due to the way we were brought up. So how can we get off this merry-go-round of doubt and stop perpetuating these patterns?

You can give your kids their best chance in life by adhering to two simple principles

  1. You consistently instil an awareness into them that each of us is unique and gifted in our own way and that we weren’t all put on this planet to be the same and do the same thing. You help them to consistently celebrate their own unique gifts.
  2. You encourage them to trust their own gut-feelings and intuition. Thus building self-esteem and self-confidence. When you ask a child ‘What do you feel, deep down, is the right or best thing to do/say/take-on here? You will often be amazed at their capacity for insight and their natural tendency towards an outcome that is good for everyone, rather than an outcome that will only be of benefit to themselves.

Up until the age of 3 or 4 most kids will simply need security, support and daily structure (routine) so that they can learn to interact with the world in a balanced way. But from the age of 3 or 4 you can really encourage them to celebrate their unique selves and trust their own, inner wisdom.

So, will your children be alright? Yes they will if they believe in themselves and trust their intuition because these skills will help them find fulfillment no matter how or where they live and help them to adapt to the reality that life is always changing. They will understand that happiness and success come from within themselves as well as the achievements of the outer world. They will have greater balance and healthier boundaries – both essential to doing alright in this world.

In my book ‘You are Clairvoyant’ I share with you simple tips on how to trust your own intuition and support your children’s journey as well as your own.
